Map Tactics & High Score Strategies
Proven strategies for maximizing scores and finding Great Ones.
General Hunting Tips
- Wind Direction: Always hunt with the wind at your back. Animals detect you by scent first. Check wind direction on the compass and position accordingly.
- Time of Day: Dawn (5-7 AM) and Dusk (6-8 PM) are peak activity hours. Most animals feed during these windows.
- Scouting First: Use binoculars to scan areas before setting up. Look for animal trails, water sources, and feeding zones.
- Silent Movement: Walk slowly through dense cover. Running or sprinting creates noise that spooks animals within 200m.
- Use of Lures: Place barrel feeders with appropriate bait (sour mash for bears, corn for deer) to attract game to predictable locations.
High Score Strategies by Reserve
Focus on Class 8-9 Animals
Great Ones are rare high-scoring variants of 13 specific species (deer, boar, bear, wolf, fox, pheasant, tahr, jaguar). They spawn wherever that base animal exists.
Multiple Species Runs
Complete daily/weekly tasks for different animal classes to maximize point accumulation across reserves.
Efficient Routing
Plan routes that cover multiple feeding zones in one outing. Use vehicles strategically to minimize travel time between spots.
Great One Locations
Great Ones are the rarest, highest-scoring trophy animals in Hunt: Call of the Wild. They appear as unique individuals with distinctive markings and score significantly higher than regular animals.
